I figure I should write something, anything, because it's been nearly a month without much word on my end. Who knew people were still reading this blog (I always reckoned that lack of comments = lack of interest)? I'd like apologize if you were eagerly checking here each day for some new update or some pointless musings on life. What can I say, it's been a pretty unpredictable, pretty rough past month - but life goes on, eh? That's one certainty. And as the great Michael Jordan so famously put it:

Obstacles don't have to stop you.
If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up.
Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

Couldn't have said it any better myself, Mikey, my man.

Other than that, yesterday was my last final for the semester. It was a long week, can't say that I fancy six tests of such importance in four days, but it's a part of college and a part that everybody dreads. It's nice to know that I can rest my brain for a month before I have to go back and it's even more nice to know that the Riverside is closing here in a few weeks for the winter. I'm not going to know what to do with myself with all of these weekends off from work collecting unemployment. I'll make it a memorable few months though - or that's the plan at least.

Of course, things don't always go as planned. In fact, hardly ever, when you sit and think about it. Case in point: I was on my way back to my apartment last week, driving that trusty Ford Ranger of mine, when all of the sudden my car shook a bit and there was immediately a loud noise bellowing below my driver's seat... yep, the whole muffler system decided it was time to rust right out and break off. Being late at night and having to get home somehow, I drove it that way, got home, and left it for the night. The next day, seeing how undrivable it really was (and wondering how I drove it so far that way the night before), I had to call up my mother for a ride into Cambridge to get to work... then on Monday, I took it to a shop, had to replace the entire muffler, tail pipe, exhaust, hanger, spring bolts, clamps, gasket... my wallet really enjoyed that, as you might expect. Sometimes I think I should just buy a new car, but I know the truck has at least another year in it... maybe... I hope.

I'm going to my second Steelers game of the season this Sunday against Jacksonville (the first game, Matt Beardsley and I were are the offensive-fest that was the 3 to 0 Monday Night Dolphins game in the pouring rain - a great time indeed... really!). It should be the perfect way to end the semester and kick off the winter break. Then later in the week, the icing on the cake, my good ol' European friend Tatjana is making her way back to the States from Germany for a couple of weeks, which needless to say, is exciting. It's been ages since she's been over on this side of the Atlantic (or it seems like it has been, at least). Then later on during the break, after the New Year, I'm pretty sure a much needed, reflective, out of state trip is in order for three or four days. Haven't confirmed where yet, but I have quite a few places in mind and the price is right.

Lastly, Samuel's having his second annual Christmas Yule Tide Bash at the end of December. If you haven't voted for his awards yet, do so. I'd just like to note that I did not come up with these nominations, and I'm just the dude who is hosting the polls. So, no, I had nothing to do with myself being nominated for the Ron Jeremy Award. Just make sure you're at the Bethany Guest House that night decked out in your finest ties and fanciest dresses... you don't want to miss out on what promises to be a night to remember.
